In November 2019, a number of non-state organizations in Russia, supported by some Russian communities abroad, initiated a public initiative to launch a regular celebration of “Kosovorotka Day” as the Russian folk fest.
The mission of the national holiday “Kosovorotka Day” folk fest is to strengthen the national unity of the Russian people and all other original peoples of the Russian Federation, promoting a positive image of Russian culture and lifestyle abroad.
The celebration date for “Kosovorotka Day” is July 12/ it’s the Day of the Apostles Peter and Paul, the day of haymaking in Russia. On this day, Russian parents used to present their young sons new kosovorotkas.
