Public support for the introduction of the national holiday “Kosovorotka Day” is expanding.
The public initiative to establish the national holiday “Kosovorotka Day” in Russia is actively supported both in Russia and among Russian compatriots living abroad. This was stated by the correspondent of the newsletter “ARD News” Nikolai Evsenkin, head of the working group of the organizing committee of the holiday.
“The appeal of the Organizing Committee in the Russian public to support our initiative receives a wide positive response. As our partners tell us, “The idea of such a holiday has long been in the air. Many peoples, including among the indigenous peoples of Russia, have such holidays. It is time for us Russians to acquire our national holiday, ”the representative of the Organizing Committee quotes the responses of the partners.
“We ask for support both in socio-political circles and legislative bodies of all levels, and in parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as in communities of Russian compatriots abroad. Our initiative should become truly popular! ”, Nikolai Yevsenkin emphasized.
In general, we are talking about the revival of the old Russian tradition of giving parents their adult sons new braids on July 12, the Day of the Apostles Peter and Paul. On this day haymaking began and the young men in new shirts entered their full-fledged working life in traditional national costumes. ”
